134In an interview with CNBC, Eric Trump stated that he and his father have long supported cryptocurrencies and believe the US must develop clear regulations for the crypto sector. Without this, the country risks falling behind other nations. Trump emphasized that the traditional banking system is outdated, and cryptocurrencies will soon not only catch up but surpass it. He is confident that the US could become the global crypto hub by embracing decentralized finance as the future path.
Trump also criticized the approach of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), particularly under Chairman Gary Gensler. He called Gensler's leadership a "disaster" for cryptocurrencies, blaming him for the lack of clear regulations. Trump pointed out that crypto companies are ready to follow rules but need clarity. At the end of November, Gensler announced his resignation, effective January 2025, and Donald Trump proposed Paul Atkins, a crypto supporter, as his replacement.
