Kazakhstan is tightening control over cryptocurrency miners. In November 2024, 17 companies with data processing centers and 28 companies renting space for equipment were registered in the registry. The number of "legal miners" has increased by 7.1% compared to last year.

The country has stepped up its fight against illegal mining: in 2024, 18 crimes totaling 36 billion tenge (about $73 million) were recorded. Four of these are related to "gray" mining activities. Notably, mining in Kazakhstan is now licensed, and companies must adhere to strict energy consumption regulations.
