Donations in digital assets were reported by the Trump 47 fundraising committee, which worked from April 1 to June 30. According to its report, 19 donors collectively contributed more than $2.15 million in BTC to the presidential candidate's cryptocurrency account.
Key donors to Donald Trump's campaign were brothers Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, co-founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini. They each donated more than $1 million in bitcoins.
Other notable backers of the former US president were BitGo CEO Mike Belshe with a $50,000 contribution in bitcoins and the founder of crypto exchange Kraken with $845,000 in ethers.
Cryptocurrency started flowing into Donald Trump's account on May 21. That's when the Republican candidate announced that he was accepting donations in any digital assets available on the US exchange Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN).
Trump's personal cryptocurrency assets exceeded $10 million by the end of May.
